Sovereign Redeemer Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, an evangelical, confessional, and Presbyterian denomination faithful to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. We are committed to the great biblical truths recovered by the Protestant Reformation - We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone, as revealed in the Bible alone, to the glory of God alone.

These truths of Scripture were articulated and defended by Martin Luther, Huldrich Zwingli, John Calvin, John Knox, and the Puritans. They were succinctly summarized in the Westminster Standards, consisting of the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism. We believe and teach these truths to the glory of God and sharing of saving faith in Jesus Christ; for there is no salvation in any other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Teaching the Word of God:

Christianity depends for its eternal, life saving message upon an objective, written revelation from God himself: the Bible. We hold to the inspired, inerrant Word of God as the supreme source and fountainhead for doctrine and teaching. The Word of God given in the Bible has power to change hearts and lives. We proclaim and teach this infallible word without compromise or seeking to please men. Our desire is to please God and trust the power of His Holy Spirit to apply it to the hearts of those appointed to salvation. Therefore, we systematically teach the whole Word of God, allowing the whole to interpret the part.

Worship:

The purpose of worship is not to attract an audience or entertain a crowd. True worship is directed to God, for His glory, as commanded by Him. In worship we come to meet with a holy God through the grace he gives us in Jesus Christ. Therefore, we come knowing ourselves to be unworthy sinners forgiven in the once and for all sufficient sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, approaching the heavenly throne where Almighty God is worshiped by thousands upon thousands of sinless angelic creatures. It is only because of Jesus we have access, our imperfect worship is received, our praise and prayer is acceptable. With broken and contrite hearts, we may come only with what God tells us to bring.

Our worship is simple, reverent, and includes only those elements God explicitly commands in His Word - prayer, the reading and hearing of Scripture, the preaching and hearing the exposition of the Bible, the singing of praise, and celebration of those sacraments (baptism and the Lord's supper) ordained in the Bible. Our desire it to please God and not to man-pleasers.

The Church belongs to God and not to man- The Church is the body of Christ on earth through which he continues to teach and do his saving work. It is no mere human organization but a divinely instituted organism of living members. The Church is no democracy following the whims or preferences of its members. It has a King and Lord who reveals his will in a written constitution, the Bible. He confers authority upon the elders (presbyters) of his church, who should be mature men of integrity and faith who seek to do his will in all things.

The Westminster Confession of Faith says of the Church:

Unto this catholic visible church
Christ hath given the ministry, oracles, and ordinances of God,
for the gathering and perfecting of the saints, in this life,
to the end of the world:
and doth, by his own presence and Spirit,
according to his promise,
make them effectual thereunto.

[WCF XXV:3]
